Sacred Ground
Life/Protection
Creates a barrier that undead/constructs/summons can't cross.
Also can function as a strategic spell.

I like it. I like the name. I like the effect. It's a good suggestion![]()

I like the idea but we have to define how big the barrier is, and how it's positionned. Any idea ? Something like "Earth to mud" in HoMM3 where you get X contiguous cells to convert to sacred ground, and you chose which ones ?
That sounds about right to me.. So if a unit is standing in this sacred ground, and is next to an undead, can the undead melee attack them?
An absolute denial is a pretty strong - ie, battle-winning - effect, unless it's temporary, which Sacred Ground has no good reason to be.
Maybe we could say Undead have to make a fairly difficult saving throw to step onto a square of Sacred Ground? And, indeed, to make a melee attack onto it? (Counter-attacking wouldn't be affected, because then the enemy is reaching out to them.)
Is it possible to bring the Purification mechanics into the battle map? So that, in this case, the kinds of Unhallowed Units that can Corrupt squares could also take a round to un-Sanctify a space covered by something like Sacred Ground? (Once they, themselves, made the save to get onto it, of course!)

Well, to be fair, most ranged units are dealing piercing damage, which skeletons have Damage Resistance against..
I agree sounds nice but should have a will save that of course should be easier for high-tier units (that I guess will have higher will any way right?) and should have a limited area and of course should not prevent counter-attacks has Lintking noted.
