    324 combined circle spells (1 per tier), 24 single circle tier 9 spells (2 per circle), and 12 arcane spells. all of this is approximate numbers. i can't remember where i saw this breakdown by aaron, but i just did the the first consolidation thread and i need a break.

    edit, it is in this thread, and i was wrong, it is 7 spells per circle per tier from tier 1-8, for a total of 56 per circle for a total of 336, and then 2 per circle for tier 9 (24), for a total of 360. and thus arcane isn't factored into the mix.

    my math was way off too, guess you shouldn't drink and calc.

    Ampoliros, the arcane spells can be considered “freebies”. They won't apply to the spell limit. And don't think of it as a hard limit. Three hundred and sixty is the base goal. A few extra spells may creep in

    re: the amount of spells per circle

    Right now, the planned amount is:
    - 2 spells of each circle combination (fire-summoning, water-augmentation etc.) for tiers 1 and 2
    - 1 spell of each circle combination for tiers 3-8
    - 2 spells of each singular circle for tier 9
    - an unknown, but small number of arcane spells
    This gives us 378 spells total, plus arcane spells. That said, there might be a few gaps here and there (no 8th tier Fire-Protection spell, for example), but the absolute minimum is 360 spells total. That's still a lot.

    Not a problem, will try to see those 36 threads and update the excel according and try to reflect my updates here and/or on the threads to be sure we are all thinking the same.

    I know we said must not be perfect, but just an heads-up because we currently have 2 spells for these combinations where we should have only one:
    Fire/Aug 3: Essence of Fire, Fire Breath
    Wat/Men 4: Omens of the End, Scrying
    Earth/Pro 4: Ronaa's Meteors, Silent Sentinels
    Wat/Summ 3: Slime Wave, Summon Medium Water Elementals

    My suggestions to solve this is to:
    Downgrade to tier 2 Essence of fire and Fervor to tier 1
    Downgrade to tier 3 Scrying
    Downgrade (and reduce in power/number of slimes) to tier 2 Slime Wave (there's not much to do, with Medium Water Elementals at 3 as Medium Fire Elementals and Grand Slime at 4 with Nagas at 5, unless we move Nagas at 6, Grand Slime at 5 and Slime Wave at 4)
    Downgrade Silent Sentinels to tier 3

    The wiki is not always 100% up to date to our internal docs, so yes, we are aware of that. Essence of fire, for example, is currently on its way out, for example.

    I think our biggest concern now is creating the spells. We can always fine-tune the numbers later, as well as change circles, or event the spell's flavor. Also, it'd be great to have a list visualizing our current progress to keep us on track.

    I can do magic with the excel if you update the wiki or provide me any other sort of document I can use to update the excel.

    In my opinion we should just have, say, a fire thread, and then in that thread we argue about tier 1 spells until we have all the tier 1 fire spells decided on, and then we start arguing about tier 2 spells, and so on. Rinse and repeat for each element.

    That makes complicated match the circles with the elements. I like the idea of the element/circle thread, but I agree with Happerry that we should focus on one element and its circle at a time, like Life now for example. So we should add Life/Biomancy, Life/Destruction (does it exist???), Life/Protection, Life/Mentalism and Life/Summoning threads.

    You bring up an interesting dilemma. What do we do with Circle combinations that aren't terribly natural?

    For the record I do remember one or two spell suggestions that were Life / Destruction. But not 10.

    Oh, I do see Happerry's point of view about discussing one Element at a time. Quite often there are equal arguments for placing a spell in one Effect Circle or another. While it's usually obvious what Element the spell should be.

    So, discussing one Element at a time will make it easier to cross those borderline spells over from one Effect to another.

    The downside of threading by Element is what you pointed out - the confusion of having so many spells in one thread.

    I dunno, the arguments seem equal one way or the other.
