Well, Merlin was a Disney Kid. Like Lindsay Lohan. It's not really his fault.

warlock 1, can i really be trying so hard to forget you?
Is it bad? I poked at the Demo a little bit after somebody mentioned it here, out of curiosity, and it seemed... OK, at least.

I like Warlock 1, played it over 200 hours according to steam.
Nice mixture of Civilization,Master of Magic and Fantasy General. AI is pretty bad though.

Warlock 2 shipped just a few days ago with a pre -release version. Quite a bit more content now compared to Warlock 1.

it isn't very 4x, and there is only 3 races. when i played it i fought the same monster over and over, and it was one that took many turns of persistent pecking to kill. very repetitive, if you play on a big map to give yourself some room to grow, you'll find that all you do is sack city after city of neutrals because they are already in pretty much every available spot from the start. when you eventually bump borders with an enemy, you'll have spent so much time fighting to reach that point (most likely ignoring the less militant aspects of expansion and growth), that they will be cake to beat.

it is like pandora in that you aren't supposed to play it as an epic game, and if you do it falls apart. come to think of it most modern games that try to do a 4x game fall apart in this area (aside from civ 5).

Warlock I had 4 races after DLC and several other very nice content added after some DLC's,like Item Crafting and more Power to terraforming. Also Armageddon Mode was added ,with really was one of the most challenging modes Ive ever played in my own history of Fantasy Strategy games(and that history dates back way before MoM was designed).

It totally lacked balance for MP games, I still played quite a bunch there though and it lacked decent AI for regular "Sandbox" modes aka Master of Magic like after you got good at it and lost the desire to play Armageddon Mode.

Warlock 2 now has 6 races up, and I heard it might end up with 8.
Its a nice game and really addicting. Not a masterpiece, but among the better games Ive ever played.
It is defenitely a contender to WoM as well as the upcoming AoW 3, which I think will be a masterpiece.
