This is great, Aaron! This is a great way to really take in the game screen by screen.

7: Researching - Displays the spell the player is currently research as well as its estimated time to completion. It will also open the Research Spellbook.
    [...]
10: Research - Opens the Research Spellbook which allows the player to select a spell to research.
Why are there two separate ways to reach the Research Spellbook from the same page? This seems redundant. How about nixing 10 and just keeping 7? This might give you enough room to do alchemy directly on this screen without an extra click.

12: Lock - Each of the power spheres can be locked in place. This allows the player to change two without changing the third.
Could the unlocked state perhaps be represented by a graphic of an unlocked lock? This might make the locking function more discoverable than just a colored circle.

4: Change - Changes from converting Gold into Mana to converting Mana into Gold.
There are a number of ways to implement this without adding another GUI element. How about just clicking on the from/to arrow instead of having this button? To make the "click to flip" action clear, perhaps change the arrow graphic to a two-headed arrow with one of the arrowheads grayed out?

5: Amount Bar - Allows the player to change the amount of Gold or Mana being converted.
What are the bounds of the bar? Is it 0 to 999 as in MoM, or is it 0% to 100% of the resource being converted to the target?

6: Proceed - Confirm the conversion.
"Proceed" sounds a bit...bureaucratic. How about "Convert"?

4: Mana Bar - Displays the player's current and maximum Mana that can be used in battle.
How can we discover how much mana we have left in our reserves? That can influence how much of our "maximum" mana we should strategically use in this particular battle.

7: Deselect Unit - Deselects the currently selected unit.
I'm not sure I understand why this button exists.. Why is it important to not have any unit selected? What instead might be more useful is a button that removes the current unit from the tab list (that is, the list of units that are selected in turn when the player repeatedly taps the tab key).

To me, it'd make sense to make the colored circle glow brighter when it's locked. I don't think absolutely everything needs to be contextually obvious. Once you run through the tutorial, you'll know that clicking on the "gems" will lock the value and it'll be pretty obvious if it's just highlighted (glowing gem).

+1 for "click to flip" and nixing the 'Change' button.

Also, IMO, the Proceed/Change buttons are backwards. Here's the reasoning:

Listing OK last improves the flow, because the dialog box "ends" with its conclusion. Also, as withPrevious/Next, you could argue that OK is the choice that moves the user forward, whereas Cancel moves the user back. Thus, OK should be in the same location as Next: on the right.

I'd also ask whether Skill (spellskill?) plays into this.

Actually, on the alchemy menu, I think 'Proceed' needs to be more prominent. It's placement with 'change' is odd, since they do very different things. One interacts with the menu (part of altering values in the window, the other closes it out (indicating you're done with the menu..

Myk, I take your point about the redundant research button. And it could open up enough room to work the alchemy menu into that screen. We may also rework that menu based on the feedback we get. (Like the feedback you guys have just given.) Spellcraft Skill doesn't limit transmutation. It's just a matter of how much Gold or Mana you have at the moment.

We make want to change the locks. I think WyldeRhide's idea is very MoMesk

You also make an interesting point about seeing how much mana you have in your mana pool on the battle board. We'll need to consider that.

I'm not sure about axing the Deselect button yet. We probably can, but I want to get some of these other tweaks out of the way first.

Either way, great feedback. Keep it coming!
