A few questions with Steam early access looming

I am thinking about purchasing because this game looks great. Is this a persistent world, where you can keep growing your cities/heroes, etc., over time? In this regard, I need more of a big picture overview. What exactly is the meta-game, taking over cities/territories from others? Lastly, will our "progress" be saved or will there be a future wipe? Thanks.

it is like civ, so there isn't a persistent world in an MMO sense. you can save the game and pick it up later, and you can do multiplayer with people (though i haven't tried, so i don't know if it is implemented yet), but as a turn based game if you stop playing other people will have to wait for you to finish your turn when it comes around (or battles you are involved in, etc.) in order to proceed and do stuff.

so in short if you have played civ1-5, alpha centauri, pandora, master of magic, endless legends, fallen enchantress, or warlock: masters of the arcane 1-2 you should be quite familiar with the genre of game.

OMG JAMEOS Char profile is Mystix X (yes i know every MoM toon by heart ) ok even tho i never included Mystix X in my dream team he was a great hero....My dream team was usually Malleus, Torin, couple archers, Yarrack the warlock and usually Ellena..........but if this game is really the sequel to MoM it should be great as MoM was the undisputed pinequel of Fantasy strategy turn based....never anything better so far

I also have some questions about Steam early acces, but more along the lines "How?"

I got the e-mail announcement and replied, but later figured out, that was from the Kickstarter address. Not sure where to send another one to Missing Worlds Media.

So, I backed the KS project and am supposed to get a physical copy. IF I go through Steam, what does this do to my KS perk? How do I get a "key" if I do go through Steam?

Sorry for my noobiness, but thanks for any help
