    Spell balance thread

    This thread is dedicated to spell feedback.

    Does the spellcraft-related DC for offensive spells scales well? Should it be harder to resist spells? Should it scale more?
    How are spell circles? Are they of similar power? Is any of them underpowered? Overpowered?
    How is the relation between blesses and curses? Are the curses less useful? Too expensive?
    Are any spells game-breaking? Overpowered? Useless? Underpriced? Overpriced?*


    * spell and research costs are temporary and will undergo major overhaul next week.

    Just want to check something: do the following currently increase DC?:
    1. Skill rating (power)
    2. Infusion

    If not, then I'll wait for those to go in before I start testing.

    So far, I have been really happy with all the spells, Hoverdog. You've done an excellent job crafting them and setting the numbers. The only complaint I've had so far is the anti-flying spells aren't powerful enough. I'd like to see Withered Wings and Vacuum get some upgrades.

    Is there any way to check what a spell's DC is currently, besides looking in the combat log at the time of the roll? Can it be calculated based on the skill rating and tier?

    I was trying to look previously and couldn't seem to find anything in the UI to give me the DC for a spell, but that would be super nice to be able to see. Otherwise, I'll try to provide better feedback once the new beta patch hits and I can get some games in (fie on you, NullReferenceException).

    As a rule of thumb, it's 10 + tier + spellcraft/100.

    This update will add additional dc bonus for each spell and a new infusion effect.
    We'll also propably chance the bonus from spellcraft.
    It will be added to extended spell info soon.

    DC data:

    GENERIC

    base dc (10)
    + individual dc bonus for each spell
    + tier

    SORCERER LORD
    + spellcraft/25
    + mastery (masteries)
    + Hypnotist bonus from discipline if spell is Mind Affecting

    UNIT/HERO
    + Enchanter's level
    + stats modifier:

    Inteligence for Wizards
    Wisdom for Clerics, Druids, Paladins
    Charisma for Sorcerers and Bards


    COMBAT ONLY
    + 3 if spell shares a spell circle with node

    Raze zombie spells for example that allow you bring up raised creatures, behind enemy units. They should have a short range, maybe a few squares from your board edge, but not the enemies.
    Elder Dragon, Grand Chancellor x 2, Conjurer x 2, and some other type of Backer
