I actually started using the Negative Disciplines to get me extra books to put roughly 3 into Destruction Magic. Grab up something like Disrupt Undead, Ice Arrow, and Flame Arrow, and you have tools to really take advantage of weaknesses of units like Lycans.
Having a "neutral" magical damage would be useful though.

Taking a city on the prime plane with Unhallowed will convert the land around that city into corrupted land. I feel that founding a city should do the same.
