Die rolls

Just bought the game and watch the manual.

If I understand it right some casualties were effected by die rolls. The manual does not really explain how I suppose.

Question: What does die rolls effect and how much? Is it just luck from 1 - 6 to beat the enemy?

Not exactly, I would rather say Dice Rolls determines how hard you will beat the enemy. In other words as an example, if you will roll 1 enemy will lost only 10% strength, if you will roll 6, he will lost 75% of strength.

From 10 - 75 %! Oh really, there is pretty much in between.

But let me ask from the beginning. If I had a column about 7:1 then I may destroy the enemy completely (that is what the manual said). What if I have this 7:1 and a dice roll from 1. Or the other way round when I have column 1:1 and a dice roll 6. What is better? And isn't it too much luck in the game?

That was only an example, of course it is better to have 7:1 than 1:1.
