No sound effects

I am running this game on windows 7 and I have music playing but no sound effects. I can turn the music up and down but sound effects are just missing. Help.

Is the sound set to 100, and you can't hear any sound when moving troops?

Yes, I can change the volume of the music by changing the setting to 50, 100 etc but no matter what it is set for for the sound effects I get no sound when moving units.

Can you enter to the \data\sound\ folder and try to listen any of the wav files directly?

No, Actually I don't have a sound folder. There is a music folder but no sound folder!?

I uninstalled and then reinstallied but I have the same thing. no sound folder. I got the game through Gamestop. How can I fix?
