I suppose I'm OK with the killing blow by fire - then there is no need for an "ash" mechanic, the idea then becomes that when Ashes to Ashes is cast on the battlefield (it would be a battlefield global that sticks around like Prayer and can be Dispelled) the energy from Ashes to Ashes supercharges Fire and spontaneous combustion happens upon death.

To be honest I don´t see the purpose.
Units being killed entirely by fire (magic) sureley will be an exception and therefore the spell will be used very seldom if ever.
It sounds like "animated dead" just for fire magic.
I suggest sticking to a spell available for all circles to animate dead.

We'll have to think about it. You do make a fair point GeneralGonzo

I think that units being killed by fire magic, the most blasty and destructive of the elements, as well as being the kind of magic sword that is most traditional to get, will be higher then some people think.

Ashes to Ashes does indeed make no sense as a one-off.
Ashes to Ashes as an area enchantment where it creates ash golems of everything killed by Fire would be quite useful to a destruction specialist.

I, er, thought it was already a battlefield enchantment?

WyldeRhide called into question the scope of the spell. And I got the feeling GeneralGonzo may have been under the impression it was a one-off.

I'm still mulling it over. If you have more to add then add it
